255 The 'Jetsons'/'Sleeper' House. Unusual looking house featured in the Woody Allen Movie
254 Beautiful Picture Spot. There is a special lane so you can exit and then easily get back on to the highway. The bridge was built specifically with no center support in order to avoid ruining the view. There is also a buffalo herd that you can usually see.
252 Evergreen Pkwy, McDonalds, Burger King, Wal-Mart
247 Deer or Elk off to the left among the trees sometimes. Getting ready to go down a steep hill with a sharp turn at the bottom. If it's snowing gear down, and make sure no semis are tailgaiting you.
245 Mountain Goats and Big Horn Sheep (our favorite Colorado wildlife) for the next 15 miles (to Georgetown) Look on your right, they are often right next to the road or sometimes climbing on the rocks. If it is close to sunrise you are very likely to see some if you have vigilant eyes. For the rest of the day it is less likely, but not unusual.

242 Idaho Springs, Restaurants
240 Waterfall on your left and Mt. Evans. If it is summer and you have arrived really early.... Mt. Evans is really cool. The highest paved road in the US. You can drive to within a hundred feet of the summit in the Summer and see views usually reserved for those who are willing to take on a very tough 10 hour hike.
238 St. Mary's Glacier.... OK it's not really a glacier so they had to take down the sign, but snow stays there throughout the summer.

228 Wildlife viewing of mountain goats and big horns pull-off with viewfinders. Once you go over the Divide gas prices go up by 10 cents, so you might want to fill up if you're running low. Look for smoke on your left for the historic Georgetown-SilverPlume railroad.
221 Right before the bridge at the exit look left and you will see Grays and Torreys two of the largest mountains in Colorado. They are over 14,000 feet of elevation, which means they are two of Colorado's 54 14ers. There are 60 something in the entire US.
216 Loveland Pass, If you want to add about 30 minutes to your trip, but take a nice drive, circle this way over Loveland, by Arapahoe Basin and Keystone and around Lake Dillon.
Tunnel Warning, Just because it is sunny and beautiful on one side, always pay attention to the speed limit signs in the tunnel. It just might be a blizzard on the other side. You are going under the continental divide (water on the Denver side flows to the Atlantic, water on the Silverthorne side flows to the Colorado River, through the Grand Canyon to the Pacific)
Coming out of the Tunnel Looking ahead you will see a large rounded mountain. This is Buffalo Mountain. Our condo is at it's base.
